AC Shadows Unveils Surprising Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected partnership that challenges conventional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the official statement, "An unusual confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of banned rituals and terrifying changes reverberate through the darkness." The plot features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine cult.
The adventure centers on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Transformations
The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Features
Players who finish the quest will receive an unique katana alongside several artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Content
This update also adds the game's third complimentary story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Collaborations
This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that unmistakably referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
